What are some of the best ways to find inner peace?
The best way to have peace of mind is to throw away your false mind through meditation and find the real mind within yourself.
I want to tell you about the inner war I have had recently. I woke up early in the morning to prepare for class and went to middle school to give a special lecture on meditation to students. I have a passion for and pride in the classes I teach. So I always took it for granted that my students focus on my class. On this day as well, I wanted the students to concentrate and participate in the class because the meditation method I gave was effective. However, as the class progressed, things did not go well. More and more students were unable to concentrate. I got nervous. And I started to get angry. During the time of meditation, one or two children began to sleep on their stomachs, and toward the last class, about half of the students either slept on their stomachs or did not participate in the class. I felt embarrassed and even ashamed. Because I think the students are ignoring me.
I just came home from class and kept thinking about what was wrong. And in the evening, while meditating, I looked back on my words and behaviors. And I looked back at my mind quietly.
The problem I had was very simple. I did not try to listen and empathize with the students today. Instead, as a lecturer, I was ostentatious to young people, saying and doing things that I graduated from a good university, met prominent people in society, and was a successful person.
The class failed because I treated the students with the thought that they should listen carefully to what I said and do as the teacher tells them.
I was ashamed of myself. It is because I have been so well observed that I try to appear strong to the weak. I have thrown away my false self-image and my fake mind through meditation. And I was determined again. The reason I became a meditation teacher was to help teenagers living in 2022, like myself, who went through difficult puberty 30 years ago. It was not to ignore and command the youth.
Fortunately, a week later, I went to a lecture at the same school. Because I looked back on my heart, I listened to the students’ stories and conducted the class while interacting with them. And I didn’t say anything to brag about myself. I did my best to help our students focus on letting go of stressful negative minds through meditation. The result was successful. The feedback from the students who finished the meditation was very positive.
I felt uncomfortable with a recent quarrel with a friend, but after meditating, I felt more at ease.
I let go of my study stress. I think I can study without stress.
I let go of my worries and anxiety.
The meditation class was fun.
I would not have looked back on myself if it had not been for the failures in the first class. The change in my teaching method was due to the honest reaction of the students. I thanked the students who refused my class and slept on their stomachs. It was their actions that expressed that the teacher’s class was too violent.
Without meditation, I would have become increasingly distant from the world, trapped in my lifestyle, speech, and way of thinking I created. But meditation keeps me awake. Even though it may be painful at times, in order to restore the unchanging peace within us, we must throw away our false minds. Peace is not on any specific condition or anywhere in the world. It’s in the minds of all of us. If you want to know the answer to this, you can watch the video below.
