How do you know when your life is good?
I used to think that everything had to go my way in order to feel like my life was good. Of course it didn’t work out that way. I wondered why I should only think about myself. Living that way only caused me stress.
The practice of meditation changed my perspective on the world, and I began to see the world differently. It occurred to me that I had to have a good mind to live a good life.
The following are several effects of meditation I have observed.
✔ I used to expect a better result than I tried. I was expecting luck added to my efforts. However, I had to realize that if I wanted to pass the exam, I had to put in effort commensurate with it, and the results would be just. Also, I had to be aware of the efforts everyone else is making to prepare for their exams. As I meditated and looked back at myself, I became a more realistic person.
✔ I was unable to accept that I wasn’t capable of something. Thus, I was always forcing myself to do things. I pushed myself too far and ended up collapsing.
I realized that when I was trying to do something, I had to look back and see how I felt and what I thought about it. After I removed my false minds and emptied them, I could see clearly what I should and should not do.
✔ People who did things I didn’t understand made me hate them and think they were strange. My mind categorized people based upon their actions. But I found out that each person acts and says what they have in their mind. I was able to understand and accept the fact that we all have different minds.
✔ My mind rejected all ideas and concepts that were different from mine. They seemed to be making me angry. But it wasn’t true. I found out that they were benefactors who told me what false minds were inside me.
Rather than focusing on making my point and proving that I am right, I feel that my life is good when I meditate knowing that I have my own stubbornness.
If someone breaks my heart, I feel that my life is good when I cry knowing that the pain is inside me without fighting with that person.
A good day for me is when I am able to recognize and appreciate all the work that went into preparing the food in front of me.
Meditation allows us to release the stress that has accumulated in our lives, and to see the world with a perspective that is beyond our own. It will be a good friend of life for everybody. Rather than living life just for ourselves, let’s live one in which we can understand people, act and speak for them. Everyone can live a good life when they have a good mind, which is a privilege only humans have.
